Winter 2006 Interview with Patrick Decook , interviewed by William B Finn


Will - What goes on in your brain on a daily basis , generally?
Pat - Man , this bed sucks I need a new one, Man this car sucks I need a new one , Man this job sucks I need a new one , Man I like this beer!

Will - So what is your background with transmissions?
Pat - I bought a 70 elcamino with a bad trans when I was 18 , bought the book + tools to rebuild it because I was too cheap to pay someone. Once the word got out I rebuild transmissions + drivelines my pager never quit beeping , thats how long ago. I have pages of GN Certs + ASE master certified, Woopdy Fuckin Do.

Will - You won the rollover contest at Columbus Motor Speedway in 2006?
Pat - Actually I won in 05 + tied in 06. My tie was b.s. cause I hit the ramp at over 50 , the other guy was going 5 mph , what a pussy , no he's a really cool guy , Vulagamore , he's a great competitor.

Will - What did you do to prepare for that event?
Pat - Full rollcage , 5 point ,5 point harness , race suit , neck protector , teeth protector , gloves , boots , + a sack of balls.

Will - How long have you been riding?
Pat - 14 years old , over half my life , man I getting fucking old. Bought a Honda CB 360 , fixed it up , rode it once , sold it, what a P.O.S.

Will - I saw some trophies in your office , 4 of them to be exact , whats up?
Pat - We do several events , trailer racing , the rollover competition , loose caboose(2 cars chained together , front has no brake , back car has no propulsion) , how many laps can you do in 15 minutes? I also roadrace motorcycles. I race with my GSXR 600 with WERA and Fast tracks , and I race a YSR 50 in the OYLN.

Will - Your rumored to be a pretty wild dude from the stories floating around , what injuries have you sustained during your "spare time" ?
Pat - I have never had any serious injuries other than a sprained ankle a few years ago at the gingerman race track in Michigan. I was on crutches for a couple weeks , now Im 100%. Ive never broken a bone , Ive been t-boned , hit a snowplow truck , driven through a barn , ran off the road on my bike , went flying over the handlebars into a mud pit , jumped several vechicles , crashed my bikes on the track at least a couple dozen times, hit a bridge abutment at speed and popped the bag , been in the back of a truck getting ejected when the driver hit a ditch , I can go on and on.
I always wear my saftey gear on the stunts + on the bike. I always wear my seat belt in the car on public roads , Im not worried about my skills , its the other drivers you have to worry about!

Will - What are your plans for 2007 , the rollover champion again? Open a repair shop?
Pat - 07 is going to be a busy year. Opening and developing a Auto repair shop , building another rollover car , buying another race bike. Doing more riding is important to me. We did alot of car stuff in 06. Im also building 2-3 SCCA spec miatas and a drift car , 85 toyota cressida with a supra engine , yeah Im going to be busy I dont think Im going to have time to get laid!

Will - Anything else you care to say?
Pat - Rock and Roll aint noise polution to me it makes good good sense!
